ARTIST STATEMENT
“I am fascinated with the interplay of light, shadow and color. In
working with these elements, I have attempted to portray the beauty of
god’s creation and the joy I feel in being able to express my artistic
gift. My major influences are the French impressionists and the Rockport/Gloucester
school of painting with its broad brushed style of American impressionism.
In addition, the California school has influenced me with its rich and
varied color.”
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
The artist paints landscapes, seascapes, cityscapes and florals in
oil, pastel and watercolor. She uses a layered impressionistic technique
with the various mediums. Oils are painted on canvas with high-quality
opaque pigments. Pastels are created with dry chalks of pure brilliant
pigments layered on top of the other, giving the work a shimmering
quality of light, shadow and color.
